Our Philosophy
Connection
We view the relationship as the centre of change and believe that progress in therapy is dependent upon the relationship between the therapist and the child or caregiver. We acknowledge this and focus on building a connection with the child through their interests and building a trusting relationship with parents and caregivers.
Advocating
for your child
We are passionate about advocating for children. We aim to encourage and empower through our work. This may involve prescribing and recommending modifications in your child’s classroom, educating partners on developmental expectations at each age and stage in life and supporting self-advocacy skills.
Empowering parents
We may be the experts on child development, but you, as parents and caregivers, are the expert on your child. We value and encourage parents to share their thoughts and opinions and to participate in whatever capacity they can. This may look like anything from parent training, to joint sessions with parents, to regular updates and sharing of pictures from sessions and home programs. We aim to create a partnership with you which empowers and supports.
Collaboration
We wish for children to be nurtured so they can grow on their individual path and glow as the unique person they are. In order to do so we firmly believe in collaborating with community partners, whether this is a child's doctor, teacher or even their ballet teacher or tutor.
Evidence-based practice
Professional and personal development are extremely important to us at Grow + Glow. We invest in keeping up to date with evidence-based practice through studying research and participating in training. Through our personal and professional development processes, we aim to provide therapy that is backed by research by happy, regulated therapists.
